Day 3 of rain. The apartment is small. The child is loud. My sanity is questionable.
After many, many rainy seasons, I've developed a system. Not perfect. But survivable.
The "I Have 5 Minutes to Prepare" Tier:
- Cardboard box + crayons = instant spaceship
- Pots and wooden spoons = orchestra time
- Masking tape on the floor = roads for cars
The "Let's Get Creative" Tier:
- Indoor picnic on a blanket
- Blanket fort movie theatre
- Treasure hunt with hidden snacks
The "Actually, Let's Go Outside" Tier:
- Puddle jumping (embrace the wet)
- Rain walks with umbrellas
- Listening to rain sounds together
The "I Need 10 Minutes of Peace" Tier:
- Sensory bin with rice
- Water play in the sink
- Sticker books
"The best rainy day activity is the one where everyone survives until bedtime."
